WHO IS YOUR COUNSELLOR?

Image
"Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the LORD and on his law he meditates day and night" (Psalm 1:1, English Standard Version).

The Scripture that heads this paper has only a few words but it really deals with the critical issues of our daily living in a very extensive way. A simpler and more exemplary rendition of this verse in the New International version translation of the Bible reads: "Happy are those who reject the advice of evil people, who do not follow the example of sinners or join those who have no need for God. Instead, they find joy in obeying the LORD and they study it night and day". Every day we live in this world we are faced with the tas…

RAISED WITH CHRIST

Image
Once you were dead because of your disobedience and and your many sins. You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil - the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God. All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God's anger, just like everyone else.
But God is so rich in mercy, and He loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, He gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. ( It is only by God's grace that you have been saved!) For He raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus. So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of His grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Jesus Christ.

PRAY, GOD WILL ANSWER YOU!

“What a friend we have in Jesus,  all our sins and griefs to bear! What a privilege to carry everything to  God in prayer! O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we  bear, all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.” –  (Joseph M. Scriven)

These lyrics of the first stanza of a popular  hymn written by Joseph Scriven communicate to us the profound truth of  God’s wonderful relationship with man. The fact that an Almighty and  Sovereign God, creator of the universe, would stoop low to listen to  lowly beings as we are is indeed a great privilege that should cheer us.  God is indeed very mindful of us and cares about the situations we are  in and very readily comes to help us out when we call on him. Though He  dwells in highest heavens, He hears even the faintest cry for help of …

MORE THAN A DROP OF GREATNESS!

"Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging : and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise".....Proverbs 20 verse 1.

In a recent advert from Guinness, the slogan was "There is a drop of greatness in every man". It is logical to think that there is a drop of greatness in every man, however, what is contentious about Guinness' claim is the ascription of greatness to drinking of Guinness stout, an alcoholic beverage.

There are several reasons people give for their drinking habit. Many take to strong drinks not just for the satisfaction they get from it but for the reason that it gives them a high sensation and a feeling of importance. If you have ever heard of social drinking, you would be convinced that many indulge in drinking to impress friends, colleagues at the work place and so …
